Brash Brass
Initial experiments with artificially tarnishing brass. Brass, salt, and 5% acidity vinegar. Need to find a better source for metal sheeting. Apply solutions, wait overnight. Time. Let the solution do its thing, react with the metal—and with the atmosphere between it and the metal. A dialog between air and mineral, mediated by liquid solution. When I was in college, I wrote a paper on natural patterns in nature. Lots of pictures, of grain in wood, whorls in water, etc. Trying to reach back to these childlike exaltations: gazing emptyheaded into the clouds for eons. Corporeal quandaries like what the hell to do with oneself in the face of human horrors and misery. That sort of thing. Ponderous preponderances. Brash brass brassieres. Wonderment at the faintest trickle of water along a drainage ditch.
