How big is the universe? One light-year refers to the distance that light travels in one year, which is about 9.4607 trillion kilometers. It is a distance that humans can hardly imagine. Even with the speed of light, we cannot truly grasp its velocity, yet it is 9 trillion kilometers…
On top of that, the Milky Way galaxy we often hear about has a diameter of about 100,000 light-years and a thickness of about 1,000 light-years. The beautiful Milky Way we can see in the evening sky is exactly the view of our galaxy.
And the size of the Andromeda Galaxy is now about 220,000 light-years. It is also about 2.5 million light-years away from Earth, where we live.
Through scientific technology capable of measuring these immense distances and capturing images, I can hold this indescribably beautiful universe in my eyes.
The more I learn about this vast universe, the more it always fills me with awe and wonder.
