Collection: Miro Kang
Miro Kang(1986~) invites audiences to explore the intricate language of color created by light in her evocative art pieces.
Through her works, Kang transforms personal emotions—shaped by relationships, insights, and the complexities of daily life—into physical forms. These shapes, when combined with light and space, create immersive environments that convey and evoke emotions, allowing viewers to connect with their own memories and reflections.
Central to Kang’s practice is her use of curved, translucent slate panels housed in rectangular frames. These materials, reminiscent of architectural windows, form a metaphorical "window of emotions," blending art and space into a single narrative. The painted areas on the slate surfaces shift with the viewer’s perspective, creating dynamic optical illusions and evolving hues that stimulate memories and associations.
Kang's work explores the fluidity of emotion, presenting happiness, anxiety, love, and understanding as intertwined elements of human experience. The ever-changing interplay of colors mirrors the impermanence of memory and the layered complexity of personal connections. By engaging with these shifting forms, viewers are invited to immerse themselves in a dialogue of empathy, introspection, and rediscovery.
Miro Kang was born in Busan, South Korea, in 1986. She earned her MFA from Long Island University, USA, in 2015, and her BFA from Ewha Womans University, Korea, in 2009.
