Etruscan

D.H. Lawrence visited Etruscan Place, Tarquinia, and Cerveteri, the book published in 1932.

In 2025, I will follow up on the Etruscan place with Roberta Gattel. His traveling experience is so detailed, but it's more of a travel document than a historical testimony. I wonder how he became interested in this culture at that time.

I imagine a time before I was even born. I would have had to take a train and a bus at an incorrect time to meet someone on foot. His writings describe April's Italian weather and scenery, the train station with nothing, and eating at the only friendly and tasteless restaurant. I plan to rent a car so we can go anywhere. I think a lot of Etruscan places are outside of the city. We can not go somewhere without a car.

Roberta told me about the route to visit Pistoia, Volterra, and San Giminiano near Florence. There was also a way to read books and follow in his footsteps, but now it's 2025, not the 1930s. A lot of things have changed. Now it has information signs and is visited by many tourists. I was motivated to explore another place.

The next place on this trip is Gyeongju, Korea, which represents the Shilla period. The traces of Joseon, which began in ancient Babylon and Persia, and the spread and change of shamanistic culture can be found on the Korean Peninsula in the 3rd and 6th centuries.
