I'm not, in my opinion.
You are not your idea. What is in your head does not define you. What you do defines you—your actions.
"Good thoughts speak only to those with deep thoughts, but good deeds speak to all mankind."
_Sidore Roosevelt
For most people, their inner state dramatically influences what they do. But people who produce outstanding results are great because they have learned to act without being swayed by them while going through those emotions. It doesn't mean they don't desire to doubt or postpone themselves or avoid certain situations. They don't always have the "feel" of wanting to do what needs to be done. They focus and pounce. Whatever the feeling, they do something.
It would be nice if we could decide that we would never have negative thoughts. But those wishes are not realistic. Yes, yes. People who emphasize positive thinking will get excited by this statement. But I also have something to say to those people. Have you ever guessed why you came up with 'positive' as the answer to life in the first place? Have you ever noticed what condition you become when you encounter someone or a situation that seems negative? Yes, we do. However hard we try and avoid it, sometimes we get stuck in those negative thoughts of the past.
Far from controlling what we think of ourselves, it isn't easy to influence it. As I mentioned in this book, we don't know what we believe.
We have a lot of irrelevant and useless thoughts as well as essential thoughts. And some thoughts come to mind every day. The thought that I'm not worth anything, that someone evaluates me, that I don't feel like I'm in my place, that I'm incompetent. We have these thoughts on our way to work when we pay our bills, go to the mart, and drive.
I teach people who come to me to change how they look at life and approach it. But this is a long-term solution. Ultimately, my goal is to help you change your unconscious mind. And it's like turning a warship around, so it takes time.
No matter how hard you try, you will sometimes have negative thoughts. Maybe more often than occasionally. Maybe every day. Perhaps hundreds of times a day.
There will be days when you don't want to get out of your blanket. There will be days when you don't want to go to work. There will be days when you don't want to fulfill your responsibilities. But we still do what we need to do today. Every day, we live doing activities we don't like. This means that you can already act independently of your thoughts.
You don't have to feel like today is the best day, as I always tell people who come to me. You have to act like it is.
