ART NYC Institutional Artist Development
From Significant Practice to International Recognition
The Foundation of ART NYC identifies and supports exceptional artists whose work has not yet received the international recognition it deserves. We help selected artists advance toward museums, biennials, nonprofit institutions, research programs, and international exhibitions.
This is not a conventional career-coaching or portfolio-consulting service. ART NYC works closely with a limited number of artists to examine the depth and long-term potential of their practices, strengthen their distinctive concepts and visual languages, and position their work within broader institutional and critical contexts.
What We Do
Every artist requires a different path forward. ART NYC carefully evaluates each artist’s practice, research, professional history, and current position before developing an individualized strategy for the next stage of their career.
Our work may include:
- In-depth analysis of the artist’s central concepts and visual language
- Development of new bodies of work and long-term research
- Career strategy for museums, biennials, and international institutions
- Development of exhibition proposals and institutional projects
- Cultivation of relationships with appropriate curators, critics, museums, and cultural institutions
- Strategy for international open calls, fellowships, residencies, and research programs
- Development of critical writing, publications, archives, and professional discourse
- Planning and production of international exhibitions
- Sponsorship, transportation, installation, communications, and on-site project management
- Long-term planning following major exhibitions and institutional projects
ART NYC does not sell access to institutions or guarantee exhibitions, acquisitions, or selection. Our role is to help artists develop the work, research, proposals, professional materials, and relationships necessary to be seriously considered within international institutional contexts.
Who We Work With
This is not an open-access service for every artist.
ART NYC works with a very limited number of artists selected for the quality, depth, and long-term potential of their practices. We are particularly interested in artists who:
- Have developed an original and sustained body of work
- Seek long-term artistic development rather than short-term promotion
- Demonstrate a strong conceptual or research-based foundation
- Are ready to expand into international institutional and critical contexts
- Remain underrecognized despite the artistic and historical relevance of their work
- Are prepared to participate seriously in a rigorous and collaborative development process
Selection is not based solely on visibility, sales history, or existing market recognition. We consider originality, continuity, intellectual depth, international potential, and alignment with the Foundation’s nonprofit mission.
Our Approach
ART NYC chooses to work closely with a small number of artists rather than manage a large roster. Our goal is not temporary exposure, but meaningful and sustainable career advancement.
In 2026, the Foundation of ART NYC organized Song E Yoon: Songs Across Time, a Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The project grew from long-term artistic research and practice development into an international exhibition in Venice that involved institutional collaboration, sponsorship, communications, transportation, production, and on-site management.
Building on this experience, ART NYC helps significant artistic practices move beyond visibility toward international exhibitions, critical engagement, research, and sustained institutional recognition.
Selection and Partnership
Artists may be considered through professional recommendation, direct identification by the Foundation, or a limited inquiry process. All submitted materials are reviewed internally. Only artists whose practices and long-term directions align with the program will be contacted.
Following selection, the scope, duration, and structure of each partnership are developed individually according to the artist’s current position and professional needs. ART NYC does not offer standardized packages or publish a general fee schedule. Terms are determined through a tailored agreement for each artist or project.
A Nonprofit Model
The Foundation of ART NYC is a New York–based nonprofit arts organization. Revenue generated through this program is not distributed to private owners or shareholders. It is reinvested in the Foundation’s public-benefit mission, including exhibitions, research, education, residencies, archives, publications, international cultural exchange, and continued support for artists.

Artists interested in long-term collaboration with ART NYC may submit:

- Links to selected work or a current project
- A short description of the next stage they hope to pursue
Materials will be reviewed internally. Only artists whose work and professional direction are considered appropriate for the program will be contacted.
