[100 Challenge] Jisook Kim_97

As I flipped through the book and came across this photograph, the first sentence that stopped me was

“This single photograph contains more than 45,000 galaxies.”

Even a single galaxy contains an uncountable number of stars and planets, and beyond that, there are more than 45,000 such galaxies. The fact that such immense worlds, tens of thousands of them, are captured within this small frame is already a scale beyond imagination, and I was first amazed that there exists a technology capable of gauging that distance. It was awe-inspiring that humans have recorded a space unreachable by the naked eye, crossing invisible time, so clearly in this way.

And the fact that I am now looking at this photograph where 45,000 galaxies are scattered like points struck me in an odd, penetrating way. It is too vast to fully comprehend, yet still there is a sense that I am connected to this single scene. The immeasurable depth of the universe captured in one frame by human technology, and that scene creating meaning again before my eyes. That amazement and quiet thrill is why I lingered on this image for so long.
