[100 Challenge] Jisook Kim_96

During my travels, I encountered a tree with old bark where I could feel the quiet energy hidden within the surface of nature. New encounters with nature in different environments always excite me.

Between the visible cracks and grain, there was accumulated time beyond a simple surface, and its depth left a strong impression. The patterns the tree created over long years felt like a quiet record left by nature.

For this drawing, I used liquid charcoal for the first time. I have always liked the feel of charcoal, and discovering this for the first time at an art supply store sparked my curiosity.

Its subtle spreading and variation in density seem to come alive, making it a material well-suited to expressing the texture of the tree and the flow of time. At first, the brush strokes were wet, and as it dried, fine particles emerged, becoming matte and giving the impression of a natural surface.

I feel I can look forward to many more drawings in the future.
