I like cacti for their strong vitality. To survive in barren land, they turn their leaves into thorns and store water in their bodies. When I see such cacti, they seem similar to my own way of survival.
After moving from Korea to the United States, I had to adapt to this new land alone, becoming sharper like thorns to protect myself, and always having to save and conserve something.
The cactus, which indirectly represents myself, often appears as a subject in my work.
