Sitting. Over the course of about 20 seconds millions of black shiny insects emerge from the earth, devour him, leaving no trace (or only the paint-peeled wheelchair frame with crumpled bones) and recede back into the porous earth. The earth opens like a maw, swallowing him, then closes without a trace of suture. Or: earth opens for him to race into, enter, then closes behind him.
